Brotherhood

The Brotherhood ministry is a special interest group designed to strengthen and encourage the participation of men within the Church.  Through fellowship and growth gained by a commitment to bible study, the mission of this ministry is to attract and retain men in the body of Christ.

Our purpose is to under gird the whole program of the church and our Pastor.

The Brotherhood meets each month on the first and third Saturday at 8:00 AM in the fellowship hall of Second Baptist Church.

Evangelism

Using word-based teaching and training this ministry will institutionalize the principles of Christian Evangelism. This will be establised throughout the Church in order to mobolize the entire congregation. The intent of this ministry is to spread the gospel of the kingdom, teach and proclaim the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. This ministries outreach extends througout the Elgin and Fox Valley regions.

Missionary

The Missionary Society is made up of individuals who have a heart for bringing others to the saving knowledge of Christ.  The ministry has been active in the community since as early as 1976.  Our purpose is to provide support to people support to people with spiritual, physical and emotional need.  This missions group visits various nursing homes, hospitals and those who are sick and shut-in.

The missions group coordinates the distribution of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for underprivileged families during the holidays.  The ministry also coordinates events during the year to promote fellowship and spiritual growth for our church and the community.  Intercessory prayer is a primary focus allowing the ministry to pray for the church body, the community and the world issues.

This ministry provides spiritual, physical and emotional support to the church family and community. The ministry reaches out to those who are unable to attend worship services.

Meeting Times: 1st Monday @ 7:00pm

Major Activities Include:

Weekly Intercessory Prayer: Saturday @ 8:00am

Rosewood Nursing Home: 1st Tuesday @ 10:30 am

Maplewood Nursing Home: 3rd Fridays @ 7:00pm

The Vine Nursing Home: 4th Fridays @ 6:00 pm

Prison
Rev. Andrew Love &  Deacon James Powell, Co-Directors

This ministry shares the Good News of the Gospel with persons incarcerated at the Kane County Adult Justice Center by providing spiritual and emotional support through regularly scheduled worship  / bible study services at the jail.

The Second Baptist Church, Public Relations Ministry is a vessel utilized to promote the “Good News” internally and externally via print and electronic media.

Soup Kitchen

On a monthly basis, this ministry assumes responsibility for providing a wholesome meal and sharing the Good News of the Gospel by participating in the Elgin Soup Kitchen program held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Young Adult

The purpose of the Young Adult Ministry is to establish steady ground for steps of faith and Godly walks within a fellowship of young adults from the ages of 18-35 years of age.
