Second Baptist Church of Elgin
Pastor Nathaniel L. Edmond and the entire membership of Second Baptist Church of Elgin IL., welcome you today to our site. We know you had many choices of web sites to visit, but we are delighted that you chose to visit with us. It is our prayer that as you view our site, you will be enlightened on what our ministry has to offer. As Under-Shepherd of this ministry, I understand now what history has meant to us, but now the challenge is for us to see what we might mean to history. It is my goal to continue to build a healthy ministry not just for this generation but for generations to come; so that long after we are gone, we may leave a legacy within this worship place that will still be a place where souls are converted and lives are changed. Enjoy the site; and we hope you will receive a spiritual blessing.

Sankofa Wax Museum Presented by Theatre Arts
Sankofa, In order to understand our present and ensure our future, we must know our past.
The Akan (Ghanaian) word, Sankofa means, "One must return to the past in order to move forward."
The symbol of Sankofa is that of a bird whose head is faced in the opposite direction of its body. This is emphasizing the fact that even though the bird is advancing, it periodically makes it a point to examine and return to its past, since this is the only way for one to have a better future.
On Sunday, February 26, 2012, the Theater Arts Ministry will present the Sankofa Wax Museum from 12:30 until 2:30 pm. All children and youth from the ages of six through 17 are encouraged to participate. The halls of Second Baptist Church will be filled with youth who will give oral and written presentations of African Americans who have made significant and historical contributions to society.
